PLAYSTRONG is more than just a summer camp or outdoor adventure. Our counselors deliver a progressive outdoor experience starting with skill building and culminating with real leadership - and plenty of fun, celebration and camaraderie as we go.
There is no better way for children to spend their vacation days than meeting new friends and enjoying the great outdoors!
Geared for ages 7 to 13, PLAYSTRONG provides a safe, educational, and fun alternative for parents whose children may want to spend time outdoors, rather than indoors, doing the same old things.
PLAYSTRONG lets kids do what kids love most: play, meet new friends, and participate in interesting activities. It also gives parents peace of mind, knowing their children are being supervised and getting plenty of exercise.
Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is an incomparable challenge. It takes every muscle in your body to inch you upward. Once at the top the view is unbelievable. The sense of accomplishment is exhilarating. You are on top of the world. But what goes up must come down and now you have to face another challenge - rappelling. With your newfound sense of confidence you'll accept this challenge with poise- just like you'll accept challenges back in your "real" life. The outdoors is your classroom for this rock climbing class. You'll learn the fundamentals belay systems and hardware, rappelling, and rock site environmental awareness. You will gain, not only technical expertise and skills, but more importantly, discover in yourself a new focus and level of commitment to embracing challenge that will serve you for the rest of your life.
Bungee Trampoline
Flipping and flying are a breeze on our bungee trampoline! Here's how it works: A jumper wears the padded harness, which is attached to twin rubber bungee cords. These bungee cords attach to vertical poles via a lift system that raises as the person jumps, allowing them to jump much higher than they would on their own. The participant can go as high as their ability will allow them. The system maintains the jumper's height, so that front and back flips and other aerial maneuvers can be performed safely. When the participant is done, the operator lowers the electrical cart system and the jumper is lowered slowly to the trampoline mat.
Slacklining
Slacklining is the act of balancing along a narrow, flexible piece of webbing usually low to the ground. Slacklining can be traced back to climbing camps in Yosemite during the mid seventies. Climbers would camp there for weeks blazing new routes up the mountains and in their time on the ground they starting rigging lines to walk across. The "slack" in a slackline, as compared to the taught steel cable of a "tight" rope, gave people the opportunity to bounce and do tricks. Early slackliners also found that the activity improved their core strength, balance and movement for climbing - and is was FUN. PLAYSTRONG will teach campers to safely try slacklining in an environment which is safe (and soft)!
